" We used Kagan (pronounced Khan) Kosagan in Kusadasi and were very pleased. His knowledge was excellent
_- he has even worked on the dig at Ephesus. He really tailored our tour for our group meeting all our needs and
_took us to an out of the way place for lunch - not a touristy spot. We saw the Archaeological Museum, ancient
_Ephesus including Terrace Houses, the Temple of Artemis, St. John's Basilica, the House of the Virgin Mary,
_and he even took us to a Mosque where he had an Imam talk to us. It was very interesting and a day well spent.
_He has been highly recommended on this board. " |

Sample itineraries:
Starting at 9am, here is another walking tour of the city...
First stop of the day is the Mosque of Suleyman (the biggest mosque of Istanbul, nearly 500 years old... built for Sultan Suleyman the Magnificent).
Next is a ten minutes walk to Grand (covered) Bazaar (Ottoman, 500 years old, 60 narrow streets, 4000 shops, appx 300.000 visitors each day).
From Grand Bazaar, we have a 15 minutes walk down to
Spice (Egyptian) Market (All oriental spices, sundried fruits, all kinds of nuts, Turkish Delight, oriental seeds, Turkish coffee, all kinds of cheese, saffron, Turkish tea, herbal tea... all & more in this market ! Ottoman, 400 years old).
As we arrive to Spice Market, we are in Golden Horn area.
Walking over the bridge connecting both sides of Golden Horn is like walking between stages of history... from the Old City to the city of 19th. Century. As we arrive to the other side of the bridge, we are taking a short metro ride to a pedestrian street (Istiklal Caddesi). This street is loaded with locals at all times, full of local cafe houses, restaurants, shops... (getting local / becoming Istanbulian). The far end of Istiklal Caddesi is Taksim area and this is where the tour ends. Guests may stay in Taksim area longer if they like, or, we will be happy taking our guests back to their hotel.
Depending on how interested guests are with market areas, this tour is over around 4pm. |
